Our Theory of Change
TULINAM operates from the premise that we cannot achieve lasting impact/change if we do not work on the factors that promotes/triggers exclusion, i.e. no legal or policy reform without a change in attitude or beliefs too. The model that we apply is one of ‘open minds, open hearts and open doors’ in the way that we know it should be applied: by prolonged interaction with diversity/’otherness’
Open Minds
Through workshops on sexuality and religion/faith; theological interpretation of Hole Scriptures e.g., we address ignorance and prejudice and open up the way for deeper engagement.
Open Hearts
We also believe that impactful, lasting change start on the personal level, with a shift that can only start with connecting with a ‘heart to heart’/human-to-human’.
This human -to-human connection takes place in our dialogues where we bring together the LGBTI person of faith with the clergy and/or congregational members. It happens when we share personal testimonies that not only helps to eliminate dangerous prejudices but also amplifies our human connectedness.
Open Doors
It is only when we have become a human being with a face and a story that show a shared need for belonging and struggle for acceptance, and most of all, witness of spiritual richness and connectedness to the same God, that we can hope to experience inclusivity.
